Creating Your Factors

The Factors sheet enables you to set up your own customised version of the sorting program. You have complete control over the number and type of balancing factors used.

  • You can choose to use a "Text" format (eg as in Gender, the entries being M and F)
  • You can use "Integer" format (eg as in 1, 2, 3 etc to represent levels)
  • You can use "Real" format (eg as in ranges such as 0-2.5, 2.5-5, 5-7.5 etc to represent marks out of ten in an aptitude test)

It is possible to combine and give extra weighting to factors.

Other Options

The Factors sheet also allows you to adapt the Kit's general settings to match your particular preferences. You can set:

  • The maximum number of classes you wish to create/display
  • The method you wish to use to link students (name or unique id.)
  • The maximum number of "friend/keep-away columns" to display per student
  • The number of "restriction factors" you wish to use
