Student Details
The List sheet is where you input the details of your students. (You can save much time and energy here if you can generate the names, feeder schools and ethnicities from your school management software.)
As well as basic details, the following information about each student (used in creating balanced classes) can be placed on this sheet:
- Names or IDs of students who are linked as positive friends
- Names or IDs of students who are considered to be "keep-aways"
- Specific information relating to the balancing factors you have chosen (gender, ability, ethnicity, feeder school etc.
If your school operates a house system or allows students to make choices from subjects (often in languages), you can "restrict" each student to certain classes. These choices can be represented in the Restriction columns:
In this example, the first student's choice of French limits the number of classes in which she can be placed - only those classes doing French.
In this school, the user has chosen to limit certain students to either the A or B halves of a year group. Therefore the student named Roney Denton must be placed in a class in the A half of the year with Spanish as the modern foreign language.
