Maintaining and Breaking Friendship Links
To declare your friendship groups and keep-aways you must use the appropriate columns on the List sheet.
This diagram has some columns of the List sheet hidden in order to show how friends and keep-ways are declared.
Notice that, in this case, the INITIAL-SPACE-SURNAME method is being used.
Looking carefully at this example, you may notice that the first two students in the list both have "T Tokamo" named as a friend. This implies that the first two students are linked and, as long as no restrictions are breached, the program will place all three students together. Of course, this interlinking of friendship groups can lead to situations where a large number of such groups are linked. This can be difficult for a user to untangle and so we have introduce the Linkview sheet.
The Linkview sheet has been designed to help you identify unintentional, forgotten or unwanted friendship links. After sorting, it also provides a quick way to check that the students you wanted together have remained together.
Note how the first friendship group has been formed:
- A Abram has two named friends; T Tokamo and S Atwalli
- H Abriel has one named friend; T Tokamo
- If all friendship links are to be adhered to, the program must place all four students together as one friendship group
